Underground lift

Underground lifts are cargo lifts that may not transport passengers. The hoistway is roofed by a lid (canopy) which is lifted as the lift travels upwards. That is why no concrete hoistway head is needed.

They are driven by an hydraulic drive assembly and often used to transport waste. Its exploitable space, lifting capacity and number of stops are limited.
