Efficient measures – lower consumption

In the Federal Republic of Germany, buildings consume about 40 per cent of the total national power consumption.1) Lifts hold a 3 to 5 per cent share in it, amounting to 18 TWh a year taken all of Europe together.2)

There are various factors influencing the amount of energy a lift consumes:

  • power consumed per trip
  • power consumed at standstill
  • loss of energy (heat) caused by venting the lift shaft.
